THE DUEL : I attended the other day the triomphe of magic over the brute force… We were awaiting the "Named Gnoll" in Highold Pass, you know, the one that gives out the Polished Granite Tomahawk or the Darkwood Shield when it dies. Usually, the people there are about level 20 to 25. Surprised, we see coming a very very well equipped she-warrior (without play on words, I speak of the armor !). I throw an eye on her, this girl is red for me !!! She is at least level 29 or more !! Holds ? Hail Mister Named Gnoll ! Big scuffle, the monster collapses... And it's the warior who recovers the shield !! Big anger of the other players, that all take side against her... One treats her as a thief, as a little gamer, and so on… This one, far to be shame-facedfar, takes advantage to say to the present players that she accepts the duel with anyone wanting it. This is small-minded considering the difference of levels between she (she is called Lionfist) and us. To my big surprise, a magician replies to the challenge, his name's Dakinis and must be level 25. Lionfist mocks of him, and the fight begins... Before proceeding, two little precisions : On the duel first, it is necessary to know that two players that confront do not risk a lot, otherwise scratching their self-respect. In fact, the looser don't lose any experience and his items cannot be stealed. Next, I must show you the geographic position of Highhold Pass. This is a pass in the mountain. On the sides of the mountain, there are small ledges. At the place where the duel is taking, a wall was built, that allows to pass from an ledge to another… And so the duel begins... It lasts a very short time. Lionfist attacks the magician and hit him with big sword blows. Pouf ! Dakinis just casted a flight spell !!! He flies then running and crosses the empty space to find itself on the other ledge... He pelts then Lionfist with spells !!! This one understands very fast the position and rush on the wall to access the other ledge... Coming there, she notes that Dakinis is gone to the other side !!! This little play unfolds during some minutes, Lionfist is now agonising and Dakinis will give finishing stroke... Dramatic turn !! A gnoll just appeared beside Lionfist... The gnoll hits and Lionfist collapses under the jeers of all players... For those that did not understand, I specify : A duel is without danger IF YOU ARE KILLED BY YOUR OPPONENT. But this is a gnoll that stroke the fatal blow to Lionfist, therefore loss of experience points. This one yells his rage, she lost the duel and what's more, she also lost 1/5 of its experience points. I learned a thing today. If one day I challenge a magiciqn, this will be in inside... A TERROR NIGHT : I was the other evening helping a young necromancer, member of my guild, to win his level 4. We are therefore near the monolith in the Nektulos forest, while the magcian fights, I heql him... By Innoruuk !! A zombie has just appeared behind him.. I put myself between him and the monster… The fight finished, I turn back to see how is the young necromancer... Thunder !! He is attacked by two other zombies !! Before I can intervene, three other monsters appear and engage the fight !! But what is that generating of monsters ???? The poor necro try to flee, but it collapses three meters farther... I have now 5 zombies on my back !! Unfortunately for them, I am Shadowknight level 25... I count the corpses : 6 zombies and 2 Newbies decorate the field !!! I seize the opportunity to make a screen shot... I send next a message to everyone, "Come to see the hell spawn, 6 zombies at Monolith !!".Of course everyone arrives to see that... What ??? But they are crazy ??? 8 zombies have just appeared around the monolith !!! This is the fly away of all the newbies !! A poor sorceress try to flee, followed by 6 of them, the two others seem to bear me me a grudge... Hell Fight !! Here, this is finished. A guard warned by the cries came to lend us strong hand, the bodies of the zombies (and some others..) lay scattered about the clearing... All the players still in life require what has happened… As for me, I think Innoruuk my god tested my valor... Or the VERANT PM (the Everquest conceptors) wanted to laugh a little ?? I don't know, but I will never forget this night. ... What a fun !!! NAJENA, THE RETURN : Quietly sitting tasting an orc brain in HighKeep, I receive a message from Vinamin : "We will take a walk in Najena, you come ? "Sure, I agree... Arrived in Najena, we splunge in the depths of the old stronhold... This is very pretty here, there are engraved doors with many runes, rooms where hang strange torture tools, walls spotted with blood, some elite ogres .... ??!?! Elite ogres ??? Boum ! Ouch ! Baf !! They hit as brutes !! Fortunately, we have a secret weapon : A war troll !!! I am happy to have it with us this one, he hits tremendous blows, Ogres transform themselves very fast in skewers for lunch. Rest, then we plunge a little more in the depths... We unstop in a room where an Ogre Captain awaits us with all its buddies... A titanesque fight begins, we focus on the Captain that, fortunately for me, choose the Troll. This is cheating an Elite Ogre, it takes advantage that you are occupied with his captain to attack you slackly in the back... And Blam !! I take a magistral 112 blow in the back… Lightly stunned, I turn back to face my opponent… Gloups !!! Straightening : The opponents !! They are two that want to play with me as a doll. I size the position... No time to write my will… RUN LIKE HELL !!! The drows also are cheating, I hug the troll very near in my escape (drow play) and the ogres play well, they attack him !! The worse is that the troll is getting out not so badly... Wouuuuuing !! Vinamin just restored me all my life points, look out for squalls !! The Ogre Captain is out, I charge an Elite Guard... Harm Touch (251 points), the ogre collapses... The fight is ending ?? Not at all my lady, hello the pretty dust elemental !! The troll is injured now, I charge the elemental... This thing is magic and I take a lot in my ass. End of the fight, I have only about 10% of my life points left, my companions are not better… The loot of the monsters is to the height of the deed : bronze armors, a lot of coins... Gone out of Najena, I am very happy to be still alive... And what's more I am level 26 !! |
