ADVENTURES IN HIGHPASS HOLD :
Good, I show you the place. A pretty small pass in the mountain that links up the north part and the south
part of Antonica, the middle of the pass being kept by a stronghold. The place would be idyllic if parties
of orcs and of gnolls didn't prowled here…
This is therefore by a pretty small springs morning when I dropped in the pass. Small geographic
precision, to come here from Nériak, I had to cross Nektulos forest, Commonlands east and west,
Kithicor forest, what represents a 10 to 15 minutes trip running.
I prick up my nose, it's hot here ! Guys are fencing clumsily with... An orc ?? Little smile by my char, a
newbies party again ! I approach, as a lion... BAM, BAM, I loose 48 live points in two blows !! What
?!? I turn back, there are two scout orcs behind me, they backstabed me both easily... I begin to fight...
Very fast, I notice that the Commonlands' orcs are weak chicks beside these... RUN LIKE HELL !!!
Well, I go back there... It is quiet now, the guys are sitting and resting, I start a chat :
- Hail
- Hello Uen, you're looking for a group?
- Why not, but I am level 18...(I say proudly)
- No problem, we are 19-22, it will work (gloup ?) They are all at higher level than me !!!
I follow the group... And I did not go out of the pass since a week, I love this place.
Extracts of my road notebook :
- It's hard today, the orcs are coming in 6-8 waves. The most fearsome ones are orcs médic, they throw
you spells of root that block you on the spot, impossible to flee. Damn !! My wizard has just been
backstabbed by two mercenary orcs, I go help him… I put myself as a stopper between him and the
orcs... Our dwarf warrior has just fallen facing a medic, the position is critical... The order comes, "zone
!" Ok, I break... What ?? Mom, I am rooted !!! All my game friends have just changed zone, leaving me
alone facing 2 médics and 3 mercenary ones... Today, drow in the menu...
- We are in competition with another group. This zone is considered as "free" by the players, this means
that the strongest wins... This time, the group strategy is modified, kill the biggest monsters to have the
more experience and loot. There are therefore small cunnings that leave the others attack the big
monsters, and then finish them with fireballs... This is irritating to have fought against a big one and being
stealed by a guy that inflicts him 55% of damage... (Therefore more than your 45%). Good, a small trap
? OK ? Let' go !! I give you the details... 1) The monsters appear (4). 2) My group pretend to pull. 3)
The opposing magicians sprinkle. 4) Who discovers itself with 4 big orcs on the kidneys ?? The opposite
life points are going out when we're jeering like : "You want help ?" or "Puhh these monsters are tough
!!". RUN LIKE HELL for the other group, what leaves us time to clean the spot... He is good at
stratégie, Uenaelar...
- From time to time, a special orc appears. This orc boss has a true name like "SHRACK KRELAR" or
another, he is usually called "named orc". This nice fellow is red for me, therefore about level 25. This is
cool to kill it because on him one finds one of these three things : - A rucksack in which the things weigh
only a quarter of their weight, A Shiny Brass halbred, a 2 hands weapon Which hits hard, or an idol for
magician that throws a spell with several charges... These articles can be sold between 50 and 100PP, to
say you that when the fellow comes, the heavy artillery shot at him !!! The other evening, a ranger was
selling the famous Halbred 100PP. Comes a warrior that says him "show me". And the crazy ranger
gives the weapon to the warrior that escapes !!! This is at this time the most beautiful instant cheating that
I saw in Everquest. The poor ranger was runnig after him while yelling "returns it to me, returns it to me
!!", I remember that I laughed till I cried !! To the highest pitch, 10 minutes later, the warrior broadcast
"Halbred to sell: 100PP" !!?! No one could hold this poor ranger who called everybody for duel and
wanted todo a butchery. A great moment in Everquest!
To finish, the result of this week in Highpass Hold :
- I am level 20, almost 21 !! (Level 22 = New spellls).
- Some of these orcs have mail armor pieces, my AC climbed.
- I have more than 120PP in vault.
- I have double attack (level 20), I hit harder.
- I was Binded" here by a magician, if I die, I reappear in the pass.
- I killed so orcs that the stronhold guards let me go and come everywhere without attacking me.
- The most funny of the level 20, I have a name !! I am now Uenaelar UTHMATAR.
